The E.C. Barton & Company Board of Directors recently announced the selection of Mark Biggers as the new President of the company. Biggers assumed the new role on June 1, 2020 and succeeds Niel Crowson as President. He is the sixth President for the company since it began in 1885 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
“We are excited to welcome Mark into our work family at E.C. Barton and Company,” said Niel Crowson, Past President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. “As a 100% employee owned company, it was vital that we identified a new president that brought the experience and skills needed but would also be a good fit with our culture. We were fortunate to find those qualities in Mark, who is local to northeast Arkansas. His foundational traits of a strong work ethic, loyalty, and balance will position him well to lead our company into the future.”
Mark Biggers graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. After graduating in 1998, he began his CPA career with Deloitte Accounting in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 2002, he transitioned into the private manufacturing and distribution industry, where he spent over 17 years with what is now known as NBG Home (the parent company of Jimco Lamp). During his tenure there, he served as Corporate Controller, Vice President of Finance and Administration, and, since 2014, President of the Home Décor Division.
“I am honored for the opportunity to join a company with such a successful history and an equally bright future,” Biggers stated. “I am a firm believer that people are the most important part of any successful business. As an employee partner owned company, E.C. Barton & Company is a shining example of this. I look forward to working with our partners as we continue to bring quality home improvement products at the guaranteed lowest price to our customers.”
This year has been one of change and forward movement for E.C. Barton and Company. In addition to Biggers’ announcement, the company has also seen steady growth across the 17 states in which it operates, including the opening of five new brick and mortar locations. The company is also in the final stages of a rebranding initiative that will align the discount division (currently known as Surplus Warehouse and Bargain Outlet) under one flagship name – Home Outlet.
